2013 Puppy Up! Lake Norman 2 Million Dogs

On November 9th, over 150 walkers, volunteers and businesses came together at Jetton Park to support the first Puppy Up! Lake Norman walk to increase awareness and raise funds to invest in canine cancer and comparative oncology research for a national Foundation Called 2 Million Dogs. This event exceed both it's participation and fundraising goals, making close to $13,000. The event kicked off with great music provided by Captain Lou 441. Sunrise Grill and Sandwhich Company was on-site for lunch after the walk. To learn more about Puppy Up! The Build Betty A House! Over The Tabletop Fundraiser

The North Mecklenburg Woman's Club's 5th Annual Holiday Over the Tabletop Fundraiser was an incredible success.  The proceeds went to benefit The Build Betty A House project! Over the Table Top showcases the decorating talents of local designers.   The Sip "N Shop was a huge hit with attendees as they browsed through items from artists and vendors. 40th Carolina Balloonfest - HUGE Spectacular Event

The 40th Carolina Balloonfest occurred this past weekend at Statesville Regional Airport.  The CROWDS were so huge that most patrons had to be shuttled in from the Iredell County Fairgrounds.  If you haven't attended a Balloon Launch - mark your calendars for next year - this is one unique event that you don't want to miss - pictures can't do this event the justice it deserves.  Photography by Patrick Nicholoson.

MVKs 1st Annual Bachelor - Bachelorette Auction

Business After Hours at the Peninsula Yacht Club

Paw Brokers Party - Saving animals one party at a time

Lake Norman Lucky Cats hosted their FREE PawBrokers Party at Waterford Hall (Upstairs of at the Galway Hooker).  This is a national event in honor of National Feral Cat Dat.  Paw Brokers concept is very simple - donate your unused jewelry, and purchase new (donated) jewelry at their parties.  100% of the Proceeds go to LKN Lucky Cat.   For more information about how you can help support this great cause contact Robin Byrd - robinbyrd@hotmail.com.

Trails for Tails 5k Trail Run & Dog Walk

Trails for Tails is a major fundraising event benefitting Road To Home Canine Refuge and Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love that helps with the costs associated for the care of rescued dogs while looking for loving homes. Denver Days 2013 - Saturday Festivities

Denver Days 2013 was back and bigger than ever!  ALL net proceeds from vendors, advertisers, sponsors and a percentage of the rides will be earmarked for construction of the planned "East Lincoln Rescue Park". Rural Hill Fall Food Truck Rally 2013

Rural Hill Held their Annual Food Truck Rally from 5:30-9:30pm - More than 20 food and misc vendors were on site to make sure your bellies were full, and there were TONS of children's activities such as hayrides, bounce houses, and more.  Live Entertainment kept the crowd entertained while they enjoyed this wonderful evening at Rural Hill.  Stay up to date with what's happening around town by watching the Herald Weekly Community Calendar - we update daily.

Art Reception at North Meck Animal Hospital

North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital and Cornelius PARC hosted an Art Reception at North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital. Four esteemed judges, including Barbara McKay (TV personality) and Brad Howard (President, Langtree Group) will choose the top 3 art-dog finalists from 12 on display.  Each piece was crafted by a different art class at Bailey Middle School.  The Winners will be announced tomorrow 9/27 on Facebook.  We will also post the winner and a photo of the winning piece on the Huntersville Herald Facebook Page.  Some really GREAT art!  Photos by Nate.

Taste of the Lake - Lowes YMCA Community Benefit

Summit Solstice

The second race in the Summit Twilight Racing Series broughtover 250 runners, volunteers, and spectators to Davidson on June 8—allcompeting in the 4-mile obstacle challenge. Summit Solstice had participantsrunning roads, trudging through a tire maze, hopscotching 100 yards,taste-testing Ben & Jerry’s concoctions and much more.   For the second year in a row, Summit Coffee utilized therace to raise money for Nothing But Nets. The campaign extension of the UnitedNations Foundation was generated to raise awareness and funding to fightmalaria in Africa. Fundraising dollars go topurchasing and shipping long-lasting, insecticide-treated mosquito nets toAfrica—the goal of the grassroots campaign to cover Africawith lifesaving bed nets.   Over $3,000 will be donated to Nothing But Nets from thisyear’s Summit Solstice.
