Downtown Davidson, N.C. - The Town of Davidson held their annual "April is for Arts" Gallery crawl on Friday April 11th. Artists displayed their work in Davidson's establishments from historic Main Street, South Main and Circles at 30. Visitor could ride a trolley to all stops along the Crawl. Galway Hooker Irish Pub hosted the Bit O’ Luck’s 1st Annual Casino Night benefitting Bit O’ Luck Horse Rescue! The event was held in the upstairs banquet room better known as Waterford Hall. The casino company brought Black Jack, Craps, Roulette and Poker! There was a silent auction, raffle items, light h’ordeuvres and a Cash Bar. A FUN evening while giving back to the community. Thursday March 27th the Humane Society of Charlotte with held a fundraiser at Port City Club - "An Evening at the Lake" sponsored by Lake Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge, and the Humane Society of Charlotte. MFLCF Casino Night at the Peninsula Country Club, Cornelius, was a night of fun and excitement as they raised money to help build homes for five wounded warriors and their families in Denver, NC. The proceeds will be used for the homes being built by five local charities and you can learn more about each of them at www.555Charity.org. Birkdale held a fashion festival from 2pm-6pm to benefit Loaves & Fishes. The fashion show started at 4pm. Many people brought canned goods and dry goods to donate to Loaves & Fishes. Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center held their 1st Annual Rhythm & Brews Fundraiser, at The Pearl in Cornelius, on March 1, 2014 and raised over $49,000! The event featured local craft beers and live music from the Charlotte based band, the Holdouts. The high energy evening was emceed by local radio and television host Ramona Holloway. Gourmet treats were prepared and generously subsidized by Armin’s Catering. Funds raised at the event will go toward services to assist children and families affected by sexual abuse. Rachael Dyl, a senior at Cannon School is hosted “An Evening with the Beatles,” at River Run Country Club to benefit Musical Minds. The evening featured music from jazz to classical and was performed by local and international performers. Food, drinks, a live auction and local art were all part of the event. Rachael’s goal is to give kids in the area the opportunity to have music affect their lives by providing structure, focus and freedom of expression. The Lake Norman Conservatives met at Fox and Hound in Birkdale. The group has interesting speakers and help others to learn about issues impacting our region, state and nation. This particular meeting featured Karen & Billy Vaughn. Wendy's is hosted their 1st Annual "Celebrities and Strikes" Bowling Fundraiser at Strike City located in the EpiCentre Charlotte. All proceeds benefit The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Each bowling team was paired with a local celebrity. This family friendly fundraiser included a bowling tournament, corn hole tournament, DJ Bryon, live music by Aswan North “Lead singer of Paper Tongues”, celebrity autograph sessions, balloon artist for the kids, and a huge silent auction. Antony Starr and Ivana Milicevic, stars of Cinemax's hit drama "Banshee," celebrated the premiere of the show's second season at a red carpet event at Charlotte's McGlohon Theater. Parts of the show are filmed around Charlotte and Mooresville. Beth Petty, director of the Charlotte Regional Film Council, was also on hand to talk about the importance of the state's filming tax incentives, which attract big productions such as "The Hunger Games" and "Homeland" to the area. Hundreds of classic custom celebrity cars rolled into the Ingersoll Rand corporate campus on Nov. 30 for the inaugural AmeriCarna LIVE Car Show, created by Ray Evernham, ESPN broadcaster and Former NASCAR crew chief. Celebrities include Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, and many others. The event supported IGNITE, a new community center in Davidson for young adults with high-functioning autism or Asperger's Syndrome. The Arrival of Santa and Tree Lighting at Birkdale Village was a HUGE success! Birkdale hosts a parade and float contest as part of their Santa Arrival event. All proceeds benefit Grin Kids. Birkdale Village retailers donated prizes/gift cards for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the contest. On November 9th, over 150 walkers, volunteers and businesses came together at Jetton Park to support the first Puppy Up! Lake Norman walk to increase awareness and raise funds to invest in canine cancer and comparative oncology research for a national Foundation Called 2 Million Dogs. This event exceed both it's participation and fundraising goals, making close to $13,000. The event kicked off with great music provided by Captain Lou 441.
