Birkdale Artfest

Many enjoyed the beautiful weather while attending North Carolina's finest juried art festival, the Greater Charlotte Fine Art Festival, in Birkdale Village this past Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th! Pieces for sale included paintings, photography, sculpture, metalwork, digital art, jewelry, glass, ceramics and woodworking.

AnneLeigh’s Lemonade Stand & Bake Sale for Make-A-Wish

AnneLeigh Twer brought her Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale to Lake Norman Chrysler Jeep along with her dream to grant a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. McAlister’s Deli donated the lemonade. Maddy’s Fattys Bakery donated some of the cupcakes, as well as donations from Linda Lee’s Confections, Tizzerts, Suarez Bakery, and some of AnneLeigh’s teachers, neighbors and employees of Lake Norman Chrysler made bake goods to donate. Between AnneLeigh’s sales and the donation from Lake Norman Chrysler, she raised $7,022!

Football Harrells Christian at Davidson Day

Davidson Day shuts out Harrells Christian - CORNELIUS – Davidson Day’s football team jumped to a 20-0 lead in the second quarter, then saw bad weather shorten its victory against Harrells Christian on Sept. 12 at Bailey Middle School. The teams agreed to halt the game and declare Davidson Day (4-0) the winner. Davidson Day’s Anthony DiGioia was 6-of-7 passing for 162 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown pass to H Strachan.

Football Hough at Mooresville 8-29-14

Mooresville High’s football team crushed visiting Hough 38-7 on Aug. 29 to improve to 2-0. Most folks thought it would be a close game between two of the lake area’s Class 4A teams, but Mooresville erased any drama by scoring three first-quarter touchdowns. The Blue Devils (2-0) used dominant offensive line blocking to spring running back Akease Rankin for 179 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries, and quarterback Tommy Bullock for 105 yards and a score. Hough, which slipped to 1-1, scored on a late 28-yard touchdown pass from William Coleman to Caleb White.

Football Hopewell at Lake Norman 8-29-14

The Lake Norman High offense topped 30 points for the second straight game and pummeled visiting Hopewell 38-7 in a non-conference football game Aug. 29. Quarterbac Josh Ladowski threw four touchdown passes, including one to Corey Joyner on the Wildcats’ first play from scrimmage. Lake Norman (2-0) ran and passed the ball well, and forced Hopewell to play from behind throughout. Hopewell slipped to 1-1 with the road loss.
