CORNELIUS – Residents are invited to ask questions during public hearing about the swim beach planned for Ramsey Creek Park on Nantz Road.

The hearing, held by the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department, starts at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave.

Attendees will be able to review the proposed design and ask about the swim beach improvements. The plan includes creating a half-acre beach area, using preexisting park amenities and parking. Funded through previously approved bonds, the project is awaiting final federal permitting. The goal for construction to begin is the end of the year, with the projected completion date by 2016.

The only place people can legally swim off the land is at Lake Norman Park in Troutman.
