The body of Richard Terry Locklin, 53, Dick Wilson Road of Denver, was found around 12:55 p.m. about 45 feet from shore in about six feet of water in the Lake Norman cove off Dick Wilson Road.

Neighbors searching the area found the body.

“The body of the man was located off shore from a vacant lot which is used by some people to land their boat,” Sheriff David Carpenter said.

The man was reportedly last seen the night of Aug. 13 at a nearby home in the 4000 block of Dick Wilson Road.

The body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
