Chamber recognizes notable leaders

CORNELIUS – The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce recognized Anthony Roberts, Tim Stein, Chris Hailey and John Hettwer with Leadership Lake Norman LAKE (Leaders Achieving Key Endeavors) awards.

• Tim Stein has co-owned Maestro Travel for 13 years, with year over year growth of 11 percent during the economic recession. He is involved in Lake Norman Kiwanis Club, Hearts and Hammers, and Hopewell High School.

• Chris Hailey directs public safety training at Central Piedmont Community College. He serves on the boards of the Charlotte and Lake Norman chambers of commerce, as well as the N.C. Community College public safety and corrections advisory boards. Hailey is also a North Mecklenburg Rotary Club member.

• Anthony Roberts has served as the Cornelius town manager for 11 years. Roberts is guiding the town through improvements to West Catawba Avenue and the diverging diamond interchange, as well as $20.4 million in bond projects, while maintaining one of the state’s lowest municipal tax rates. 

• John Hettwer owns Payroll Plus Inc., which processes payroll in 500 companies throughout the U.S. He is has served on the board of the Lake Norman Chamber, United Way and Charlotte Entrepreneurs Association.

CORNELIUS – SAVOR Southern is developing a small urban teaching farm to offer community programs, private events and a commercial kitchen to be used by locals for classes, events and artisan brand development.

Other opportunities include kids’ cooking classes, canning lessons, Family Movie nights, Sunday farm brunches and monthly Farm to Table dinners.

Cassandra Walsingham will serve as its community outreach director, working connect schools, churches and other groups with community programs and fundraising opportunities.

BB&T promotes Small to assistant VP

HUNTERSVILLE – BB&T promoted Donna Small to assistant vice president.

Small is a certified mortgage loan officer in mortgage department at Northcross Branch, 16710 Northcross Drive.

The Winston-Salem native earned a bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in marketing and finance from High Point University.

 

Law firm hires former intern

DAVIDSON – Jennifer Errington has joined The McIntosh Law Firm as its newest attorney.

Errington graduated with honors from the Charlotte School of Law, where she was active in the trial advocacy team. She earned her undergraduate degree in classics from Davidson College.

She interned for three years at The McIntosh Law Firm, where she now practices primarily in the areas of general litigation, personal injury and wrongful death.
