Gal Friday Band headlines Concerts on the Green

DAVIDSON – Gal Friday Band, new to Davidson’s Concerts on the Green line-up, will perform 6-8 p.m. June 1 on the Davidson Public Library stage.

The Charlotte trio is made up of three sisters raised on their daddy’s bluegrass and momma’s hymn book music. Their music blends country, bluegrass and Americana.

New art exhibit opens
CORNELIUS – Café Elie and the Community Arts Project presents “The Main Street Art Exhibition,” featuring works by local artists.

Meet and greet the artists 5-9 p.m. June 20 at The Chair Factory, 20700 N. Main St., Suite 110. The event includes wine, hor d’oeuvres and live music.

The exhibit runs 5-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Humorist brings Comedy in Concert

CORNELIUS – Award-winning Nashville songwriter Greg Tamblyn brings his irreverent humor and sideways view of life to Unity of Lake Norman.

Tamblyn's unique musical wit provides the perfect dose of 'conscious comic relief' from workplace blues, global anxiety and personal challenges.

His concerts feature songs like “The Top Ten Whiny Victim Love Songs,” “Self-Employment Made Harder by Difficult Boss,” “My Life is a Beer Commercial,” and “A Brief History of God (G-String Theory).”

The event starts at 7 p.m. May 29 at Unity of Lake Norman, 19900 S. Main St., Suite 5. Tickets costs $15.

Charlotte orchestra headlines Cornelius fireworks show

CORNELIUS – The Town of Cornelius presents a free, outdoor summer pops concert featuring the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra on June 28 at Bailey Road Park, 11536 Bailey Road.  

Gates will open at 6 p.m. with children's activities and concessions. A prelude act starts at 7 p.m. The symphony performs at 8:15 p.m., followed by fireworks.

Free shuttle service is available starting at 6 p.m. at Bailey Middle and Hough High.

Bring picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs, but no glass containers or bottles, pets, tents or open flames.

Audition for Renaissance Festival

CONCORD – The Carolina Renaissance Festival will hold auditions for street performers, role players, musicians and variety acts ages 13 or older.

Organizers also seek to fill openings within the Royal Dance Ensemble and the Alleyn Apprentice Players, a children’s troupe presenting theater and song.

SHERRILLS FORD – The Hickory Museum of Art is accepting applications from artists wanting to be in the sixth annual Lake Norman Folk Art Festival.
