Evelyn Grice Coulter

CORNELIUS – Evelyn Grice Coulter, 93, died May 15, 2014, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House.

She was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Lincoln County, to the late Bessie and Robert Grice. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Coulter Sr.; brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Paul Grice; sisters, Mildred and Elizabeth Grice; and grandson, Sean Thomas Hilliard. 

Survivors include her sons, George Coulter Jr. and wife, Carolyn, Raymond Coulter and wife, Sandy, Donald Coulter and wife, Pat, and John Coulter and wife, Marianne; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held May 18 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

James Lee Johnston

HUNTERSVILLE – James Lee Johnston, 63, died May 12, 2014, at Novant Health-Charlotte.

He was born Jan. 31, 1951, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late James and Margaret Johnston.

Survivors include his son, Dale Johnston and wife, Pamela of Huntersville; daughters, Shelly Arledge, and Jamie Pitman and husband, James; brother, Ronald Johnston and wife, Liliana; and two grandchildren.

Alex Poole

CONCORD – Alex Poole, 31, died May 12, 2014.

He was born January 19, 1983, to Chris and Jan Hunter Poole.

Survivors include his parents; sister, Katie Poole-Smith and husband, Greg; and brother, Thomas Poole.

Harry Chadwick Hill

CORNELIUS – Harry Chadwick “Chad” Hill, 52, died May 11, 2014.

He was born Oct. 17, 1961, in Charlotte to Cynthia Ann Hill and the late Harry Lee Hill.

Hill worked for Pepsi USA and Coca-Cola for 14 years and was founder and CEO for Realty Ready.

Survivors include his mother; wife, Peggy Iverson; daughters, Patricia Anne Ledford and Adaire Courson Hill; son, Joshua Rodney Ledford and wife, Brandi; brothers, Randy, Tom, Creigh, and Todd Hill; and two grandchildren.

Jonathan Scott Conley

CORNELIUS – Jonathan Scott Conley, 39, died May 9, 2014.

He was born Feb. 24, 1975, in Charleston, S.C., to Deborah Arrowood Desloge and Timothy Conley.

Conley worked as a sales representative for Pepsi.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Arrowood Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Deborah Desloge and husband, Robert of Cornelius; wife, Kim; daughter, Natalie; brother, Jeremy Conley; and maternal grandmother, Betty Arrowood.

Walter Brooks Cross Jr.

DAVIDSON – Walter Brooks Cross Jr., 82, died May 9, 2014, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House.

He was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Gasonia, to the late Clara and Walter Brooks Cross Sr. 

Cross was a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked for Southern Bell in Wilmington and was a crop duster pilot in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Cross owned a home repair business and worked for the YMCA in Rocky Mount.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda Gaston and Beverly Bradford.

Survivors include his nieces, Beverly Woods, Melanie Frear and Meredith Horton; and nephews, Cecil Bradford III, Smith Bradford and Edward Gaston.

Graveside services were held May 24 at Huntersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
