Claude Melvin Hildreth

HUNTERSVILLE – Claude Melvin Hildreth, 80, died May 1, 2014.

He was born Aug. 7, 1933 in Pageland, S.C., to the late Wilson and Lillie Hildreth.

Hildreth was a U.S. navy veteran and retired as a materials engineer for Rea Construction after 37 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Violet; son, Alan of Huntersville; sister, Sarah Woodring; brothers, Jamie and wife, Kitty, and Ralph and wife, Linda; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held May 3 at First Baptist Church.

Owen Thomas Trammell

HUNTERSVILLE – Owen Thomas Trammell, 92, died April 30, 2014.

He was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Cairo, Ga., to the late William and Maudy Trammell.

Trammell was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force veteran and worked for General Dynamics.

He was preceded in death by his son, LaRue Trammell; and daughter, Peggy Ann Dollar.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia; sons, Rodney Trammell, David Warburg Jr., and Daniel Warburg of Huntersville; daughters, Tammy Stapp of Huntersville and Kathy Lynn Duggins; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 4 in Moultrie, Ga.

Warren T. Wright

DAVIDSON – Warren “Bud” T. Wright, 79, died April 25, 2014.

He was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Surry County, to the late Isaac and Minnie Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Lori; sons, Kurt and wife, Katrina, and Tim and wife, Tamra; daughter, Shannon Stewart and husband, Michael; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 28 at Ascension Lutheran Church.

Michael Barry Goldstein

HUNTERSVILLE – Michael Barry Goldstein, 54, died April 25, 2014.

He was born July 3, 1959, in Passaic, N.J., to Susan Goldstein and the late Richard Goldstein.

Goldstein worked or owned A&M Comics.

Survivors include his mother; wife, Susan; daughter, Casey; son, Simon; and sister, Donna.

A memorial service was held April 27 at Ramsey Creek Park.

Carolyn Lena Smith Batchelder

HUNTERSVILLE – Carolyn Lena Smith Batchelder, 73, died April 24, 2014.

She was born Jan. 10, 1941, in Neptune, N.J., to the late James and Margaret Smith.

Batchedler retired as town clerk for Holden, Maine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Batchelder Jr.; and brother-in-law, Norman Batchelder.

Survivors include her son, James and wife, Sally; daughters, Janis Leonard and husband, John, and Jennifer Lawrimore and husband, Ronald of Huntersville; sister, Margaret Cybrowski and husband, Walter; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rideout and husband, Glenn, and Muriel Curtis; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Batchelder and wife, Linda, and Jerry Batchelder and wife, Lois; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 28 at Christ Community Church.

Elizabeth Randolph Payne

DAVIDSON – Elizabeth Randolph Payne, 95, died April 23, 2014.

She was born July 18, 1918, in Covington, Ind., to the late Merle and Bernice Randolph.

Payne worked as an elementary school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Payne. 

Survivors include her sons, Richard and wife, Martha, and John; and sister, Nancy Lynch and husband, William of Cornelius.
