Three towns ‘on the rise’

SAN FRANCISCO – The Lake Norman towns of Mooresville, Huntersville and Cornelius made NerdWallet’s list of “Cities on the Rise in North Carolina.”

The financial website ranked 41 cities and towns based on population, employment and income growth from 2009 to 2012.

Nearby cities and towns making the list include Mooresville (1), Concord (9), Huntersville (16), Charlotte (22), Kannapolis (24), Cornelius (34), Salisbury (35) and Statesville (41)

 

Website touts Lake Norman bass

ENCINO, Calif. – If you’re looking to reel in big bass, FishHound.com recommends you fish at Lake Norman.

The website ranked recently the 100 best bass waters in the country, putting Lake Norman at No. 44, the highest among North Carolina bodies of water.

Lake Gaston (No. 82), Falls Lake (No. 83) and Kerr Reservoir (No. 96) also made the list.

The website consulted with bass anglers, tournament organizers, outdoor writers and fishing experts to compile the list.

 

Senior softball tourney comes to region

CORNELIUS – Lake Norman will host its first national senior softball tournament when the International Senior Softball Association’s Spring National comes to the region May 2-4. 

More than 30 teams from seven states – from as far as Indiana and West Virginia – are expected to compete at Bradford Park in Huntersville and Nevins Park in north Charlotte. 

ISSA age divisions range from 50 to 80 years old.
