LangTree's first phase done

MOORESVILLE – Developer RL West celebrates the completed first phase of LangTree Lake Norman, a shopping/living development on Exit 31 off Interstate 77 with a bang 11 a.m.-4 p.m. p.m. May 3.

The event, emceed by Ace and TJ of the “Ace and T J Show,” on Channel 96.1 (WHC) will entertain guests in the morning. Meg from the 96.9  show, “The Kat,” will take over in the afternoon.

Children can pet animals brought in from Zootastic Park of Lake Norman, join a Live2Build LEGO building party or help finish off a custom mural sculpture for the development. 

Opera Carolina, NC Dance Theatre and the Charlotte Symphony will perform. Later on in the day, the Acrofitness team will stage an event that includes street tumbling and hip-hop dance. Fashionistas can watch the latest fashions from Lipp Boutique and Fab'rik Women's Boutique.

Steve Welly, president of RL West, said most of the retail and restaurant space for the current phase has filled up. Located in Mooresville and Toledo, Ohio, the company is planning two more phases with a total of 50,000 square feet of retail.

Plans over the next five years include medical and offices buildings as well as an amphitheater, aquatic center and a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. The next two phases are already 50 percent pre-leased.

Chef achieves culinary excellence

HUNTERSVILLE – Philip Lloyd, owner of Certified Chef’s Cuisine, was among five chefs to receive President’s Medallions from the American Culinary Federation at the 2014 ACF Southeast Regional Conference on April 27 in North Charleston, S.C.

Medallions are presented to foodservice professionals who exemplify culinary excellence and leadership, and have contributed their knowledge, skills and expertise to the advancement of the culinary profession.

With nearly 20,000 members nationwide, American Culinary Federation offers educational resources, training, apprenticeship and programmatic accreditation.

 

Anderson to guide Park Sterling’s Lake Norman market

CHARLOTTE – Matt Anderson has joined Park Sterling Bank as the senior vice president for the Lake Norman market. 

He will be responsible for commercial business in Mooresville, Denver, Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Statesville and surrounding markets.

Visit Lake Norman celebrates National Tourism Week with giveaways

CORNELIUS – Visit Lake Norman will celebrate tourism by giving away tickets to various local and regional attractions, including Rural Hill’s N.C. Brewers Festival, Lake Norman Comedy Zone, Carolina Raptor Center and the Carolina’s Aviation Museum via its Facebook page.

Tropical Smoothie Café plans to expand

CHARLOTTE – Tropical Smoothie Café is planning to add 15 new locations this year in the Charlotte market, which includes the Lake Norman area.

The local expansion follows a period of healthy growth for Tropical Smoothie, which opened 40 restaurants nationwide and increased same-store sales by 6.4 percent last year.

The company has 11 locations open and another 21 franchises signed or under development in North Carolina.
