Davidson to offer camp preview

DAVIDSON – Davidson Parks and Recreation will offer a preview of upcoming classes and summer camps at its Instructor Showcase. 

The showcase takes place 10 a.m.-noon March 8 at Davidson Town Hall, 216 S. Main St.

The public has the opportunity to meet class and summer camp instructors, as well as sample activities and get questions answered. Instructors will provide activities and demonstrations throughout the morning.

Learn more about gardening from Michael Jones, pottery painting techniques from Go Go Clay or experience a paddleboard land demonstration.

Sign-ups are ongoing for March and April programs for preschoolers, elementary-age children, middle school-age youth and adults.

Like birds? Try raptor center camps

HUNTERSVILLE – The Carolina Raptor Center has begun registering youth for its Kids for Conservation Summer Day Camps.

Children will engage in hands-on learning and up-close encounters. 

The center is offering two new camps. Children can explore different habitats in Young Birder’s Camp or become junior keepers for the week in Raptor Keeper’s Camp. 

Back again are Birds and Beasties, Raptors of the Silver Screen, and Young Vet’s Camp. 

Camp sessions begin June 16 and run through Aug. 15. Camps cost $200 per week, with discounts for multiple weeks or campers.

Cornelius releases camp guide

CORNELIUS – Cornelius Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture has released its 2014 Summer Camp Guide, which is filled with details of more than 130 half-day campus and eight full-day camps.

Academy opens registration

SALISBURY – Salisbury Academy has opened registration for a wide variety of camps.

The school offers camp programs for children entering junior kindergarten through rising ninth-grade students. Children do not have to attend the school to enroll in camp programs.

Six weeks of sessions are offered beginning June 9 and ending July 25
