The semi-annual, four-day women’s shopping event opens for spring with new and gently worn brand name and designer clothing, shoes and accessories, from petite to plus sizes. Davidson College’s ‘Providence Gap’
Music plays an important part of the story in Davidson College’s production of “Providence Gap.” The play’s co-writer, Greensboro musician Laurelyn Dossett, accompanies Davidson College musicians in performing the bluegrass, Appalachian-inspired music that carries the story forward. The play follows an orphan from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the battlegrounds of World War I. Tickets cost $15 general admission, $12 seniors, $10 faculty/staff and $6 students.

Lake Norman Boating and Water Sports Festival
The Carefree Boat Club offers boating and water safety seminars, raffles, hot dogs and hamburgers, and activities for kids including sailboat races, knot tying and rescue boat tours. The event raises money to support Levine Children’s Hospital.

Connie Company’s ‘James and the Giant Peach’
A magical peach! Gigantic insect friends! An incredible journey! What more could an imprisoned boy ask for? Davidson Community Players’ Connie Company opens its latest production, “James and the Giant Peach,” about a boy in need of escape. The 70-minute play is perfect for children as their first live theater experience. Tickets cost $10.

The Bit O’ Luck Horse Rescue holds its inaugural Casino Night fundraiser, featuring casino games, a silent auction, raffle items and a cash bar. Cocktail attire is requested. Tickets cost $50 in advance or $60 at the door, which includes $500 start-up play money.

Paws for a Cause
The public can adopt dogs and cats, as well as bid on artwork created by Cannon School students in this outdoor festival. Food will be available for animals and their owners.

Spring Concert Series
The Shoppes at University Place kicks off its Spring Concert Series with a performance by Early Ray. Future performers include Skate Rink Jukebox (April 10), Hot Sauce (April 17) and Coconut Groove (April 24). The outdoor concerts don’t require admission.

MallStars offers quarterly club meetings for children ages 10 and younger. Membership also comes with discounts to mall stores. The launch party features music, games and prizes. Radio Disney Charlotte will be on hand. And the first 100 guess receive goodie bags.
