DAVIDSON — MSC Industrial Supply Company employees are emptying their closets for a cause March 27 and 28.

The Davidson branch of the international company will donate suits, business apparel, shoes, scarves and other accessories to Dress for Success Charlotte to help disadvantaged women going to job interviews and entering the workforce.

MSC opened in Davidson last summer, but the initiative has been taking place at its New York headquarters biennially since 2005 with some of its local charities.

“It reinforces the importance of women helping women,” said MSC Senior Manager of Community Relations Alessandra Cavalluzzi.

“Beyond clothing, they provide guidance and mentoring programs to help professional development,” she added. “It’s a great organization, and we really felt it was a great fit for us.”

While the initiative is linked with March as Women’s History Month, MSC Industrial Supply Co. employees will also donate men’s items to the Crisis Assistance Ministry.

“Since our founding by Sidney Jacobson, giving back to the community has been a responsibility of ours,” Cavalluzzi said. “It’s the right thing to do as corporate representatives.”

The drives are for MSC employees only, but residents are encouraged to support these organizations, too.
