The Hough High boys’ basketball team edged rival North Mecklenburg 69-61 on Jan. 17 to snag first place in the MECKA 4A conference. The Huskies improved to 6-0 in conference games and 12-3 overall with their third straight victory. Luke Maye led Hough with 22 points, 11 rebounds, seven blocked shots and five assists. Tucker Thompson scored 14 points and Theo Mack scored 13 for the Huskies, who shot 62 percent from the field. C.J. Bryce scored a game-high 23 points for North Meck (13-2 overall, 4-2 conference).
