HUNTERSVILLE – Laura Rosenbach was named Hough High School’s new principal at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education on June 26.
Rosenbach was principal at Bradley Middle School and filled the vacancy left by Hough High Principal Terri Cockerham.
“Hough has established itself as a great school, and for me to be a part of that is an incredible opportunity I can’t pass up,” Rosenbach said.
With Bradley Middle serving as a feeder to Hough High, Rosenbach will see some familiar faces and know some parents as she makes the transition.
She’s been working with Cockerham to prepare for the change. She’s also implementing the district’s entry plan – an outline of the first six months for a transitioning principal. Rosenbach said she’ll be doing a lot of listening as she meets with community leaders, school leaders, teachers and parents to make solidify her understanding of Hough High history and culture and what her role is in it.
“I’ve miss the excitement of high school,” she said. “Being a high school principal comes with great responsibility. It’s kind of the last chance to make kids ready to where ever they’re headed after public education so I see that as a great responsibility but also a great challenge.”
