HUNTERSVILLE – If terms like hops, barley, lager and ale get you excited, then you don't want to miss the North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival on May 11 at Rural Hill.

The Huntersville event will feature brewers from around the state offering over three hours of craft-beer tasting for those who have bought a tasting ticket for $30.

Even if beer isn’t your thing, the event will provide plenty of food and entertainment.

Seven bands, including Acoustic Syndicate, Peter Rowan, Sol Driven Train, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, MilkDrive, Brushfire Stankgrass will provide live musical entertainment to the crowd.

The gates will open at 11:30 a.m. May 11 and close that night at around 10 p.m.

The beer tastings will run from 12:45-4 p.m.

During those hours, sample beers from North Carolina breweries, including Highland Brewing Company, NoDa Brewing, Birdsong Brewing, The Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery, Lonerider Brewing, Big Boss Brewing, Natty Greene's Brewing, Triple C Brewing Company, Heist Brewery, Catawba Valley Brewing, RJ Rockers, Starr Hill, Goose Island, Carolina Brewery, Southern Tier Brewing, Westbend Brewhouse, Free Range Brewing and Cornelius's Assclown Brewery.

Tickets for ages 21 and older include admission to the show, a program guide and schedule, as well as the chance to try as many beers as you would like during the tasting session, after which most brewers will sell beer by the glass.

Those who do not plan on drinking can get a designated driver ticket for $20, which will grant you access to the nine hours of live music and food vendors.

Even if you buy a tasting ticket in advance, you still must possess a valid picture ID on the day of the event. If you do not have a valid picture ID, you will be given a non-drinking ticket. A ticket for the evening events, which excludes the beer tasting, costs $15.

Camping tickets are available on a first-come and space-available basis for those who want to camp out and not drive home after the event. The Rural Hill campground opens at 10 a.m. May 11 for campers. Campers will need to leave the premises by noon May 12.

Tickets are available for children ages 5 to 15 for $7.

Proceeds from the North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival will support the preservation and advancement of Historic Rural Hill and its mission.
