Charter athletes head for college play
HUNTERSVILLE – Eleven Lake Norman Charter athletes will continue their careers at NCAA Division II and III schools and community colleges.

Hough player picked for East-West All-Star game
CORNELIUS – Hough High’s James Jackson was picked to play in the East-West All-Star boys soccer match July 23 at UNC Greensboro. Jackson, a senior, will play for the West squad in a game against the top seniors from high schools in eastern North Carolina. Jackson, a midfielder/forward, scored 14 goals and had six assists. He was all-state, all-region and all-conference.
Pro wakeboard tour headed to Lake Norman
MOORESVILLE – The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, presented by Rockstar, will host its second event of the season May 31-June 1 on Lake Norman. The event will feature the world’s best wakeboarders competing in the Pro Men’s Division, and the sport’s future stars in the Overton’s Junior Pro Men Series.
Competitors accumulate points based on their finish at each tour stop. The highest points-earner in the five-event season will be crowned the Pro Tour champion.
The competion on May 31 will feature qualifying rounds and is free to the public. Tickets for the June 1 finals cost $7 for online buyers. Gate prices are $13 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12, and free for ages 5 and younger. For information, go to www.kingofwake.com

Davidson football adds nine to incoming class
DAVIDSON – Davidson College announced nine football recruits, which brings its total to 26 in the incoming class.
Grant Polofsky, a two-time all-state defensive end from Butler High, is the lone local product. Three others were all-state players, including quarterback John Cook (North Raleigh Christian) and defensive backs Ryan Felice (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Ben Kase (Oakton, Va.).

CORNELIUS – The Lake Norman Giants Pop Warner Football organization is accepting registration for its upcoming season.
The Giants are the largest youth football organization in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties and the second largest in the state. Play is open to ages 6-13 against others of similar size and age. Registration is online at www.lkngiants.com.

HUNTERSVILLE - The Junior Eagle Football Association (JEFA) is accepting registrations for the upcoming season. JEFA is a youth tackle football league hosted by SouthLake Christian Academy and is open to families in the Lake Norman community. All practices and league games are on SouthLake’s campus.
