Ronald Horace Brown

LINCOLNTON – Funeral services for Ronald Horace Brown, 62, were held May 29, 2013.

Brown died May 21.

He was born July 12, 1950, in Iredell County, to the late Joe Clarence Brown and Juanita Williams Brown.

Brown was a manager at Cashion’s Food Mart in Cornelius and served on the Huntersville Police Reserves.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Kidd Brown; daughters, Annette Wilkes and husband, Andy, and Erin Castro; and two brothers and four grandchildren.

William Hugh Strider

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for William Hugh Strider, 86, were held May 23, 2013, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

Strider died May 20. 

He was born May 4, 1927, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Joseph and Eunice Norkett Strider.

Strider was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked for Duke Energy.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Medlin Strider; sister, Lois Hailey; stepsons, Brad Frasure and wife, Lori and Dean Frasure; stepdaughter, Vickie Ramsey; and six grandchildren.

Hollis Eugene Reid 

CORNELIUS – Funeral services for Hollis Eugene Reid, 92, were held May 23, 2013, at Cornelius Presbyterian Church.

Reid died May 20. 

He was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Davidson, to the late William Alexander Reid and Minnie Howard Reid.

Reid served in the U.S. Air Force and Military Police. He was a Cornelius police officer in the 1950s and retired from Crescent Electric Company as a line foreman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Lee Almond Reid; brothers, Ralph, Robert, Harold and infant brother, William; sisters, Eudell Wilson and Novem Darnell; and son-in-law, Jimmy Bumgarner Sr.

Survivors include his daughters, Sharyon Bumgarner of Cornelius, Denise Pender and husband, Henry; brother, Vernon Robinette of Cornelius; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bruce Angus Bailey

MOUNT MOURNE – Funeral services for Bruce Angus Bailey, 58, were held May 23, 2013, at James Funeral Home.

Bailey died May 20.

He was born April 23, 1955, in Mecklenburg County, to Helen Brown Bailey and the late Benjamin Angus Bailey.

Bailey attended North Mecklenburg High School and Unversity of North Carolina Charlotte. He worked at Duke Power for 18 years.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Brown Bailey; his wife, Catherine Troy Bailey; stepson, Brian T. Perkins; and brother, Bryon Bailey.

Robert Clayton Cherrington

CORNELIUS – Funeral services for Robert Clayton Cherrington, 72, were held May 19, 2013, at James Funeral Home.

Cherrington died May 15. 

He was born Dec. 12, 1940, to the late Paul and Fern Cherrington.

Cherrington worked for his family business, Tice Farms in Woodcliff Lake, N.J.

Vera Mae Howell McAuley Stegall

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Vera Mae Howell McAuley Stegall, 80, were held May 26, 2013, at Huntersville Presbyterian Church.

Brown died May 24 at The Haven in Highland Creek.

She was born Dec. 15, 1932, in ElkinsW.Va., to the late Ercle Howell and Russie Wamsley Howell.

Stegall was a mail carrier for the U.S Postal Service in Huntersville before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph E. McAuley and Edmund G. Stegall; brothers, Ercle, Joe and James Howell; and sister, Virginia Douglas.

Survivors include her children, Wayne McAuley and wife, Vicki, of Mooresville, Mike McAuley and wife, Pam, Steve McAuley and wife, Wanda, of Cornelius, and Diane Grachek and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Brandy Donaldson and husband, Tommy, Jeremy, Ryan and Megan McAuley and Michelle Moose; great-grandchild, Eden McAuley; and sisters, Mary Walters and Margaret Shaver.
