CORNELIUS – The town will begin enforcing its False Alarm Reduction Program at the beginning of June, and Cornelius residents and businesses are now required to register their monitored or unmonitored alarm systems. Monitored alarm users should be contacted by your monitoring company with more details and registration information.
If you have not been contacted by your alarm company or you have an unmonitored alarm, you can register online at www.crywolf.us/corneliusnc.
The permits have an annual cost of $10. A permit is valid for 12 months from the date issued.
Registration fees are waived for residents who are 65 or older. The registration period began on March 1. Fines for false alarms will be assessed beginning June 1, ranging from $50 up to $500 for registered alarm systems. Failure to register will result in a $100 fine per false alarm.
