Taste of the Arts to unfold in The Fresh Market

CORNELIUS – The Community Arts Project hosts its sixth Taste of the Arts event inside Fresh Market April 11 for those 21 and older.

Local celebrity Chef Troy Gagliardo of Fox News Rising will be on site. A silent auction fundraiser will also be held. 

Guests will snack on hors d’oeuvres provided by The Fresh Market and sample one ounce pours of more than 30 wines. Wine discounts will be available for those looking to take some home.

The evening affair runs from 8 to 10 p.m., and the store will be closed to the public during the event.

CAP receives 100 percent of the $30 ticket price, with proceeds going toward financing the new building the group will move into this fall.

A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $35, but guests are encouraged to get their tickets in advance.

Businesses are invited to donate items for the silent auction.

Davidson Land Conservancy ‘toasts the Earth’

DAVIDSON – In honor of Earth Day April 22, the Davidson Land Conservancy will celebrate with its Toast the Earth fundraiser 7-10 p.m., April 19 at River Run Country Club. 

Toast the Earth is a fundraiser for Davidson’s land trust, whose mission is to protect natural areas and open space in and around the town.

Guests will view and may buy nature-themed artwork including photography, paintings and woodwork, dance to the music of Night Shift, and sample an array of North Carolina wine and companion foods.

Participating wineries include Daveste Vineyards, Raylen Winery, Fiddler’s Vineyard and Dover Farms.

In addition, a silent auction complete the evening. Guests can view donated items and services in advance by visiting www.davidsonlands.org.

The country club is located at 19125 River Falls Drive, Davidson.

Tickets cost $30 for individuals and $50 for couples online at www.davidsonlands.org under the Upcoming Events tab. At the door, tickets cost $33 each and $55 for couples.

Concert series wraps up with Black, Furniss and Protopopescue

DAVIDSON – The Davidson Trio, made up of violinist Rosemary Furniss, cellist Alan Black and pianist Dana Protopopescu will close out the Davidson College Concert Series this season.

Their program will feature music from Beethoven and Brahms as well as many canonical works.

Furniss serves as artistic director and concertmaster of the London Chamber Orchestra. Black is the principal cellist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchesstra, and Protopopescu has worked with conductors throughout Europe and performed in many prestigious festivals worldwide.

Their performance will take place April 7 at 3 p.m. in Tyler-Tallman Hall in the Sloan Music Center on campus.

Individual tickets cost between $5-15.
