DAVIDSON– Davidson Community Players announces open auditions for youth actors and actresses ages 8-18 for its April 2013 production of Robert Louis Stevenson’s swashbuckling adventure, "Treasure Island."

During a birthday celebration at the Admiral Benbow Inn, a pirate named Bill Bones is killed by another pirate. When young Jim Hawkins discovers that Bones had a treasure map, the adventure is on. Enlisting the aid of a sea captain and other friends, Hawkins gets a group of sailors to help them with the difficult sea voyage to Treasure Island. Some of the sailors turn out to be Long John Silver and his band of pirates who have plans to steal the treasure themselves.

Auditions will be held Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. and Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour Street. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Participants should plan to arrive no later than one hour after the start of auditions and need only attend one session.

Actors should bring a resume or list of theatre experience, a recent photo, and a list of conflicts for the February through April time period. The production will open on April 13 at the Armour Street Theatre and will run for two weekends through April 21. Numerous characters for boys and girls are available.
