Wildcats extend winning streak to 12 against Montana

DAVIDSON – Davidson College men’s basketball team defeated Montana 93-82 in overtime on Feb. 23, in the 11th annual BracketBusters game at Belk Arena.

Jake Cohen scored 25 of his game-high 28 points in the first half to lead five Davidson players in double figures.

De’Mon Brooks (pictured) contributed 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.

JP Kuhlman and Chris Czerapowicz scored 11 each for Davidson, while Kalinoski finished with 10.

Nik Cochran also turned in a solid all-around performance with nine points, five assists and three steals.

Cohen was recently named one of 25 finalists for the 2013 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award.

The award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in college basketball.

The 2013 award will be presented at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet in Atlanta, site of the men's NCAA Basketball Championship.

College hosts mixed media art exhibit

DAVIDSON – Davidson College will exhibit the artwork of Frank Poor through March 3.

Poor uses personal photographs and sculpture to create two and three-dimensional mixed media works, breathing new life into old, southern experiences.

The exhibition is open weekdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and weekends 12-4 p.m. in the Van Every Gallery of the Belk Visual Arts Center.

Senior art students exhibit their artwork

DAVIDSON – Senior art majors will show their artwork through May 1 at Davidson College. 

Their work will be displayed in week-long solo exhibitions throughout March and April. The exhibitions are open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, and 12-4 p.m. on weekends in the Smith Gallery of the Belk Visual Arts Center.

Historian speaks on Islamo-Christian Civilization

Davidson College will host a lecture by Columbia University historian Richard Bulliet to a talk entitled “The Case for Islamo-Christian Civilization."

Bulliet will discuss how Christianity and Islam have more in common both theologically and institutionally than is recognized.
