HUNTERSVILLE -– See what winter life was like for local soldiers during the Civil War as Rural Hill hosts the 38th North Carolina Troop’s 3rd Annual Civil War Winter Encampment from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 16.

Watch as the soldiers demonstrate line and skirmish drills, discuss flags, uniforms, rations, mail services, pay rates and war-time inventions.

Rural Hill’s docents will also be on hand demonstrating what life was like on the home front for those not enlisted in the war effort.

Take a scenic hike on the 2.25-mile trail and see the newly completed Rural Hill Cultural Center.

The 38th North Carolina Infantry of 1862 portrays and honors the memory of the American Civil War soldier.
