CORNELIUS – The J.V. Washam Parent-Teacher Organization and staff, along with the CMS Board of Education, will hold a ceremony Feb. 20 to name the school’s media center after Violet Washam.

“Washam was a beautiful example of community support both at J.V. Washam and in the Cornelius community,” Lori Ciuca, with the school’s PTO, said. “Every time she entered our school she was a beam of light focused on making children happy and the love of literacy.”

The library will be known as the Violet Washam Learning & Media Center.

The school will hold a small gathering at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in the media center. For details, call the school office at 980-343-1071.
