Faye Pendleton Porter

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Faye Pendleton Porter, 93, will be held in Fort Myers Memorial Garden in Florida.

She died Jan. 20, 2013, at Olde Knox Commons.

Born June 3, 1919, in Dungannon, Va., to the late Henry and Verda Stone Pendleton, she worked as an office manager in the insurance sector.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira G. Porter.

Survivors include her sons, Samuel Porter of Statesville and Jimmy Porter and wife, Joan, of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter, Pat Bechtol and husband, Donald, of Cornelius; and five grandchildren.

Selma Gamble Cooke

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Selma Gamble Cooke, 95, were held Jan. 27, 2013, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

She died Jan. 19 at Old Knox Commons.

Cooke was born Oct. 5, 1917, to the late James Franklin and Mamie Goodrum Gamble.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Pinkney Cooke; infant daughter, Barbara Elizabeth; and siblings, Mary, Arthur, Ruth, Annie, James, Bill, Tom, Hazel and Paul.

Survivors include sister, Martha Gamble White of Davidson; children and their spouses, Charles and Midge Cooke of Richmond, Va., Robert and Nancy Cooke of Ithaca, N.Y., Kenneth and Kay Cooke of Statesville, Betty and Ed Conley of Atlanta, Ga., Marilyn and Greg Ainslie of Huntersville, Joe and Kathy Cooke of Union Grove and Martha and Lawson Jenkins of Davidson; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ayden Colt Geisler

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Ayden Colt Geisler, seven weeks, were held Jan. 20, 2013, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

He died unexpectedly Jan. 17.

He was born Nov. 30, 2012, to Cory Geisler and Katherine Chelsea Weir.

Leonard Clontz Knox

CORNELIUS – Funeral services for Leonard Clontz Knox, 61, were held Jan. 20, 2013, at Bethel Presbyterian Church.

He died Jan. 17, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy.

Born Nov. 10, 1951, in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Leonard Clontz Knox Sr. and Helen Hager Knox.

Knox was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked with IBM as a computer programmer.

For many years, he was also the coach of the Wildcats and Dirt Devils girl’s softball teams in Cornelius.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dale and Timothy Knox.

Survivors include his son, Wesley Knox of Cornelius; daughter, Carrie Lail of Mooresville; and grandsons, Zack and Nick Lail.

Lucille Virginia Walker Skagenberg

HUNTERSVILLE – Lucille Virginia Walker Skagenberg, 82, died Jan. 16, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville.

She was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Eliza Wilkes Walker and John Carl Walker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Norman and Marlene.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John Gerald Skagenberg; brother Carl Walker of Sumter, S.C.; daughter, Shelley and husband, Howard Wolfe; and grandchildren, Eric and Kirsten Wolfe.

Jermayne Denny Cook

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Jermayne Denny Cook, 63, were held Jan. 19, 2013, at Whitaker’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain.

She died Jan. 13 of cancer at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Cook was born in Surry County to the late J. W. Denny Jr. and Margie Chilton Denny.

She earned a sociology degree from the UNC Greensboro and a masters in social work from UNC-Chapel Hill. She retired from a St. Peter’s Homes at McCreesh Place where she worked as executive director.

Survivors include her sons, Franklin Cook of Charlotte and Spencer Cook of Durham; and brother, Dwight Denny.
