CORNELIUS – Thousands of visitors flood the gates of SeaWorld in Orlando, Fla., each year for the opportunity to watch 8,000-pound orcas pull off mesmerizing feats. The giants usually work in sync with experienced trainers, but in 2010, something went terribly wrong.

"Blackfish" tells the story of Tilikum, a killer whale responsible for the death of 40-year-old trainer Dawn Brancheau in 2010. The documentary focuses on the affects of keeping wild animals in captivity for decades.

Screenings of the 83-minute documentary start at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 and 12 at the Cornelius Art Center, 19725 Oak St.
