DAVIDSON – Pam Maier earned the G. Jackson Burney Community Service Award, given to those whose unselfish service benefits the Davidson community.

Maier moved to Davidson a little more than 20 years ago. She served for that long at The Pines, volunteering in its health center. She has also been a member of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church choir.

The award is named for G. Jackson Burney, who served the town in many capacities, including planning and communications.

Previous award winners include Bernice Houston, William B. Mayhew, Baxter and John Fisher, Evelyn Carr, Annie Mildred Lowery, Scotty Nichols, John and Paula Kelton, Jane B. Ellithorpe, Ralph Quackenbush, Leland Park, Jean Jackson and Sterling Martin.
