CORNELIUS – EnergyUnited representatives surprised Pam Lilley at a morning staff meeting at Cornelius Elementary with a check for $1,977.44.

Lilley, a media specialist, received the check for her proposed project, “Cornelius Innovators and Engineers.” The grant will allow students to apply concepts of physics toward the construction of bridges and other structures using K’Nex materials and kits.

EnergyUnited and the Bright Ideas education grant program will bestow nearly $40,000 to 26 educators in 2013, providing resources for innovative, hands-on classroom projects benefiting more than 7,200 students.
