DAVIDSON – The N.C. Department of Transportation recently painted “sharrows,” a white shared-lane pavement marking including a bicycle symbol and two chevrons, along Main Street.
The town’s planning and public works departments requested the markings from NCDOT over a year ago, as a result of the 2008 Bicycle Transportation Plan.
“We’ve been working on our Davidson Walks and Rolls Active Transportation Plan and this is one of many ways we can encourage our citizens to share the roads,” Planning Manager Ben McCrary said.
