A draft of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization’s 2040 transportation plan includes a considerable number of road-improvement projects in the Lake Norman area.

CRTPO used a ranking system to designate projects eligible to be submitted to the N.C. Department of Transportation for funding, based on their immediate importance, need and cost-to-benefit ratio.

The projects that scored highest were placed in the 2016-2025 target range. Two other categories exist, those with a 2026-2030 ranking and 2031-2040 range.

Projects aren’t guaranteed to receive state support, and only 20 can be submitted. CRTPO’s plans change every four years, so some projects may be cut from a listing or moved up.

Here’s a look at the name, location, improvement type and cost of each local project.
