It’s shades of 2011, when the Blue Devils rolled to the state semifinal. This year’s edition has plenty of similarities, so who knows?

5. LAKE NORMAN (6-2)

Folks around the state are noticing quarterback Josh Ladowski’s numbers, but credit goes to the linemen and receivers who help him shine weekly.

6. WEST MECKLENBURG (7-1)

The high-powered Hawks have scored 27 or more points in every game. In essence, they’re playing for a conference title this week.

7. SOUTHLAKE CHRISTIAN (7-1)

The Eagles rode buses to Fayetteville last week and rode home with a 48-14 victory. They’re shaping up for a playoff run.

8. NORTH MECKLENBURG (4-4)

The Vikings’ four victories are more than they recorded in 2012 and 2011 combined. Now they’re eyeing a Class 4A playoff berth. It’s a distinct possibility.
