Shirley Lee Butler

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Shirley Lee Butler, 78, were held Dec. 26 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

She died Dec. 23, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital-Huntersville.

Butler was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Lancaster, Pa., to the late William and Frances Schlegel Lee.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Lee Hagelgans.

Survivors include her children, David Butler and wife, Debbie, of Huntersville, Billie Hager of Belmont, Wayne Butler and wife, Debby, of Harrisburg and Dodie Walker and significant other, Troy Robertson, of Huntersville; sister, Judy Chewning and husband, Al; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Jo Katalinch

CORNELIUS – Funeral services for Mary Jo Katalinch, 90, will be held at a later date in Maryland.

She died Dec. 23, 2012, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

Mary McAfee Parrish

HUNTERSVILLE – Mary McAfee Parrish, 79, died Dec. 21, 2012, at her home.

Born Oct. 7, 1933, in Asheville, she was the daughter of the late Billy Joe McAfee and Marjorie McAfee.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Parrish Sr.; sons, Dennis Parrish Jr., Phillip Parrish and David Parrish.

Donald Edward Kiser

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Donald Edward Kiser, 84, were held Dec. 22 at Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

He died Dec. 20, 2012, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House.

Kiser was born in Concord, a son of the late John William Kiser and Hettie Cornelius Kiser.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS St. Paul and later worked for PC Godfrey Inc. in Charlotte.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, John William Kiser Jr. and son, Nelson Carl Kiser.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances McIntosh Kiser; son, Gregory Edward Kiser; daughters, Faye Kiser Cavin and husband, Robert Wentworth Cavin, of Huntersville and Emily Kiser May and husband, Charles Raysor May IV; grandchildren, Emily Matheson May and Charles Raysor May V, both of Columbia, S.C.; brother, Kenneth and wife, Deloris; sister, Juanita Kiser Comer; and 17 nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Georgia Beth Akers Rorrer

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Georgia Beth Akers Rorrer, 77, were held Dec. 21 at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Va.

She died Dec. 18, 2012, at her daughter’s home.

Born May 20, 1935, in Pulaski, Va., she was a daughter of the late Guy Wilson Akers and Ida Rigney Akers.

Rorrer was employed with Coca-Cola Company from 1979 until her retirement and was also co-founder with her husband, Howard Rorrer, of Lake Norman Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Rorrer, and son, Bradley Rorrer.

Survivors include her children, Connie Stinnette of Rock Hill, S.C., Vic Rorrer of Huntersville and Russell Rorrer and wife, Debbie, of Mooresville; siblings, Irene Palmer and James and Royce Akers; grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Megan, Bradley and Audrey; and great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Courtney and Austin.

Jessie Maud Auten Youngblood

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Jessie Maud Auten Youngblood, 92, were held Dec. 22 at Huntersville Presbyterian Church.

She died Dec. 18, 2012, at her home.

Born Oct. 18, 1920, in Huntersville, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Lee Little Auten and James Wilson Auten.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Smarr Youngblood; brothers, Arthur W. Auten, Horace W. Auten, Joseph L. Auten and John H. Auten; and sisters, Margaret Auten Ivins, Dorothy Auten Lennon and Mary Auten Pait.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Wilson Youngblood of Coronado, Calif. and Susan Lee Youngblood Lind and husband, Eric Lind, of Huntersville.
