The Mecklenburg County Council of the Boy Scouts will make door-to-door stops Feb. 2 while “Scouting for Food.”

The boys will collect canned goods to donate to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. Food donated during Scouting for Food will help feed those in need. Major needs include canned meat, canned pastas, cereal, canned fruit and 100-percent fruit juice.

Get involved in three ways:

• Scouting – Boy Scouts will distribute grocery bags provided by Harris Teeter in neighborhoods throughout the county. Fill the bags with non-perishable food and leave outside for pick-up on Feb. 2.

• Drop off donations – Trucks will be parked around the region collecting food at several locations, including the Ada Jenkins Center, 212 Gamble St., Davidson; Huntersville United Methodist Church, 14005 Stumptown Road, Huntersville; and St. Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville. Locations will be open Feb. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Feb. 3, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

• Visit Harris Teeter – From Feb. 2-10, area Harris Teeter stores will have collection barrels for food donations.
