HUNTERSVILLE – Police arrested a Huntersville man Jan. 20 on charges of abusing his 7-week-old child that later died.

The department received a report of an unresponsive infant around 7:42 a.m. Jan. 17 at 7540 Rolling Meadows Lane. The child was later pronounced dead at the house.

Police are now investigating the incident and have determined that the child had been abused, officials said. Serious injuries were documented during an autopsy, but those injuries were not related to the cause of death.

Police received a second call Jan. 18 from a Huntersville-area pediatrician office that reported the infant’s twin also had significant injuries.

The second child was taken to Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Emergency Department in Charlotte.  After evaluation by medical staff it was determined that the child was the victim of abuse and had sustained serious injuries, officials said.

Police arrested the twins’ father, Cory Allen Geisler, 25, and charged him with the abuse of the second child. They are also investigating the death further.

Anyone with information concerning this incident should contact Deputy Chief Michael Kee at 704-464-5400.
