Charlotte – Charlotte Mecklenburg Library announced today that they will increase hours at 12 community libraries.

“The most consistent feedback we hear from customers is that they want more library hours, and that our current library hours are confusing,” says David Singleton, Director of Libraries. “The new hours will help improve access and normalize our schedule.”

The Davidson and Cornelius libraries are two of the 12 community libraries that will expand service to include a full fifth day beginning April 1.

They will now be open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am-8pm; and Fridays and Saturdays 10am-5pm.

This brings the Library system to about 62% of the hours it was open at its peak in January 2010.

Officials said in a press release that the library has determined that sufficient funding is available within the current FY13 budget to fund the expanded hours.

Positions will be posted in the coming days on the Library and County websites.
