ReadDavidson has chosen “State of Wonder,” as this season’s novel pick. The season kicked off Sept. 21 with a live interactive discussion with author Ann Patchett.

On Oct. 4, Davidson College’s Ann Fox and David Wessner will hold a discussion of the book 7-8:30 p.m. at the Davidson Public Library.

Dan Boye will discuss Opera Carolina’s “Tosca,” which is prominently featured in the novel, 12:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Tyler-Tallman Hall in the Sloan Music Building of Davidson College.

Professor Emeritus and poet Tony About will share his thoughts on "State of Wonder" at 2 p.m. October 22 at The Pines on Avinger Lane.

“We are really excited about the line-up of this year’s events. We’re particularly thrilled that Ann Patchett has agreed to join us via webcast!” said Cristina Shaul, ReadDavidson Chairperson. “This is the first year since Ron Rash visited us in 2008 to discuss One Foot in Eden that we’ve had an author participate in our program – it’s quite an honor.”

Past book selections have been:
2007 The Bridge by Doug Marlette
2008 One Foot In Eden by Ron Rash
2009 The Color of Water by James McBride
2010 A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson
2011 The Help by Kathryn Stockett

The ReadDavidson initiative would not be possible without the support of the following: Main Street Books, Davidson Public Library, The MURDOCK Study/Duke University, Opera Carolina, Davidson College, PostNet, the Town of Davidson, and the Community School of Davidson.
