DAVIDSON – Davidson Day’s Will Grier, a junior, was the first quarterback invited to play in the prestigious 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Tex.
Grier also was invited to the 2013 Under Armour All-American Combine in Florida, according to Davidson Day coach Chad Grier (and Will’s father).
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the nation’s premier high-school football game, featuring the country’s top 90 seniors in an East vs. West format every January in the Alamodome and broadcast live on NBC-TV.
Last year’s game was the 12th in the series and drew a record crowd of 39,011. The next game will be Jan. 5, 2013.
Grier’s 2,408 passing yards in six games this season leads North Carolina, and is the second-highest nationally. He’s completed 154 of 193 passes (80 percent), and thrown 26 touchdowns for the Patriots (5-1).
