DAVIDSON – Cheryl Pletcher will share her vision for the “Founding Davidson House” project at a community engagement meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Homewood Suites at Exit 30.
Pletcher serves as executive director of the Carolina Comfort Coalition.
The Carolina Comfort Coalition established the Serenity House in 2007 in the former manse of Center Presbyterian Church. The nonprofit recruits and trains volunteers to serve as hands-on family caregivers. Operating funds are raised in the community, allowing hospice patients to stay at no charge.
The Davidson House would offer free hospice care to people without sufficient family caregivers in north Mecklenburg, Rowan, and Cabarrus counties. Davidson residents would be given priority.
The Carolina Comfort Coalition is looking for individuals or groups in Davidson to donate a house suitable for ambulance access and with ample parking.
