HUNTERSVILLE – The Lake Norman Charter boys cross country team won the team championship Sept. 8 at the 14th annual Cannon Invitational in Concord on Sept. 8 for the second consecutive year.

Matt Panza, a junior, led the Knights with a fifth-place finish. His time was 17 minutes, 44 seconds. Freshman Nathan Kemper also medaled by finishing 10th in 18:14.

The Knights’ girls team, despite missing three of their top runners (they were taking the SAT), finished fourth. Sarah Hardin, a senior, was sixth among 129 competitors and finished in 21:25.

Community School of Davidson’s Malia Ellington won the girls championship. She finished in 19:51.
