HUNTERSVILLE – North Mecklenburg High has added two new coaches to its athletic staff, athletics director Kevin Wilson announced Tuesday.

Gary Workman, a longtime wrestling coach at Central Cabarrus High, takes over as wrestling coach. He inherits 25 returning wrestlers, including nine seniors. Workman replaced Sean Finkbeiner, who resigned in July to take a coaching job at Athens Drive High in Raleigh. Finkbeiner coached two years at North Meck.

Sean Ryan is the Vikings’ new baseball coach, and will direct fall workouts. He’s a former Rutgers University player who played four seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies’ minor-league organization. Ryan replaced Andy Carter, who coached one season before leaving to become a volunteer assistant baseball coach at Davidson College.
