DAVIDSON – Town resident Sam Spencer will attend the Democratic National Convention as a delegate next week.

Spencer, 27, was elected May 19 at the 12th District Democratic Convention in Spencer, N.C.

"I'm honored to renominate President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden and to join a historic number of young delegates as we work to re-elect a team that has spent four years fighting for young Americans," Spencer said.

Spencer serves as the president of the Young Democrats of North Carolina and earned a political science degree from Davidson College.
