Traffic in Cornelius will be significantly slowed because of the Lake Norman YMCA triathlon 7-10 a.m. Aug. 25, the Cornelius Police Department said.

Hundreds of bike riders will travel out of the YMCA parking lot onto Davidson Street. The route continues onto Main Street (toward Davidson) and returns to Davidson Street via Potts Street.

During the triathlon police will be spread along to route to stop traffic as bike riders compete. The Cornelius Police Department recommends motorists use alternative routes such as I-77, Davidson-Concord Road or East Rocky River Road to travel to Davidson or Mooresville.
