High school football practice begins
by Staff Writer
High school football practice in North Carolina officially began Monday, even though teams have been working on conditioning throughout the summer.
Teams are required by the N.C. High School Athletic Association to practice five days in helmets and shorts before donning pads. Some schools scheduled morning workouts Monday; others opted for evening work.
The first date for scrimmages is Aug. 8. The season opens on Aug. 17.
