Duke Energy celebrates service
by Staff Writer
DAVIDSON — Duke Energy’s Global Service Event celebrates the spirit of volunteerism that is embraced by Duke Energy employees and retirees year-round.
The community service effort encourages giving back to the communities where employees live and work. What began 14 years ago as a one-week celebration of volunteerism has become a two-month focus for employees and retirees.
Recently, seven Duke Energy volunteers worked to pressure wash playground equipment, put down mulch and clean out the basement at the Ada Jenkins Center.
Additionally, eight volunteers helped pull weeds, as well as lay and level gravel outdoor kennels at the Cornelius Animal Shelter.
