CORNELIUS — An area massage therapist has had his license permanently revoked after he was convicted July 13 on two cases of sexual battery involving clients.
Joel Neal Martin was arrested and charged with sexual assault three times prior to this conviction, which also includes three-years of supervised probation.
His arrests were Sept. 23, 2011, Feb. 3 and March 27. The conviction is for two of the cases. A third, according to Cornelius Police Department’s public information officer Betsy Shores, is being appealed and waiting on a decision from the state Supreme Court.
At the time of the March 27 arrest, Martin worked for the Center of Holistic Care on Davidson Street in Cornelius.
Shores explained Martin’s conviction will prevent him from ever renewing his license in any of the 50 states.
