Donnie O’Neal Wingate Harpe

CORNELIUS – Donnie O’Neal Wingate Harpe, 93, of Cornelius, died July 15, 2012, at Olde Knox Commons.

Born Dec. 9, 1918, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter to the late Benjamin Wingate and Minnie Long Wingate.

Survivors include her son, Terry Harpe of Hamilton, New Zealand; daughter, Sondra Mitchiner and husband P.V. of Cornelius; sister, Frances Reid of Asheboro; grandchildren, Teresa Mitchiner of Charlotte, Brian Mitchiner and wife Beth of Cincinnati, and Scott Wooley of Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Patrick and Abby Mitchiner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Harpe; and eight siblings.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 6230 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC 28216.

Services were held July 19 at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wade Ogle officiating.

Annette Agnes Smith

CORNELIUS – Annette Agnes Smith, 88, of Cornelius, died July 17, 2012, at Huntersville Oaks.

She was born March 13, 1924, in Reading Pa. Annette married Charles Francis Smith on June, 16, 1951, who preceded her in death in 1997. Annette worked as a bookkeeper and homemaker. She lived in New York City, Miami and San Francisco.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Ann Williams and husband Dennis of Cornelius; and step-daughters, Gayle Chambers and Sharon Ritter of Ohio.

Services were held Friday, July 20 at  James Funeral Home in Huntersville, with the Rev. Rick Felts officiating.

John Gale Maston

HUNTERSVILLE – John Gale Maston, 60 of Huntersville, died July 17, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.

Born June 14, 1952, in Wood County, W. Va., he was a son of Howard and Helen Maston.

He served as a military policeman for 12 years and was a member of the National Veteran’s Organization of America.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Sun-mi Maston; son, Robert Maston and wife April Maston of Concord; son, Daniel Maston of Huntersville; five grandchildren; his mother, Helen Birtha Cross; three brothers; and three sisters.

Services were held Sunday, July 22, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville.

Willis Earl Deal

HUNTERSVILLE – Willis Earl Deal, 77, of Huntersville, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at his home.

Born Aug. 21, 1935, in Craven County, he was a son of the late James and Mildred Rowes Deal.

He worked as a driver for numerous trucking companies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Davis Deal, in November 2011, and a brother.

Survivors include his daughters, Catherine Deal and Vickie Parks of Huntersville, and Debbie D. Wikander and husband “Smurf” of Charlotte; son, Clinton Deal and girlfriend Sherry of Huntersville; grandchildren, Heather and husband Thomas, Jennifer, Shannon, Megan, and Christopher and wife Nancy; great granddaughter, Emma; brother, William Deal; sisters, Betty Jo Modlin, Becky Kirkpatrick and Lucy Price; sister-in-law, Jackie Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Monday, July 23, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville. Burial followed at Northlake Memorial Gardens.
