CHARLOTTE – Carolinas HealthCare Systems and Mecklenburg County have settled a legal dispute over behavioral health hospital Carolinas Medical Care – Randolph on Billingsley Road.

CHS operates the 66-bed inpatient hospital and emergency department. The county will transfer that property to CHS. CHS will dismiss the lawsuit it filed July 2011, releasing the county from claims for indigent care funding and operating deficit funding. CHS will continue to manage the county public health department for up to one year.

CHS plans to begin construction on a similar behavioral health facility in Davidson this summer.
