CORNELIUS – Hough High School’s DECA chapter sent 19 members to the 2012 International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, and four were recognized out of the more than 16,000 international competitors.
Throughout the April 28-May 1 event, students presented projects and took tests on subjects such as marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and market sales and service. DECA is an international association of high school and college students interested in pursuing careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship.
The following students were recognized for their performances at the conference:
• Craig Amasya received a test medal and second-place trophy in Retail Merchandising Series;
• Amelia Sechrest received a test medal in Apparel and Accessories Marketing;
• Annie Rutledge received a role play medal and was recognized as a top-20 finalist in Marketing Management Series; and
• David Snedecor received test and role play medals and was recognized in the top 20.
Hough High also brought the largest delegation of North Carolina students to the competition.
