Alice Dugan Kopp

DAVIDSON – Alice Dugan Kopp, 85, of Davidson, died May 18, 2012.

Born Sept. 11, 1926, in Elizabeth, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Dugan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vincent Clifford Kopp and her sister, Rita Dugan DiTore  and husband, Patrick.

Survivors include her brother, Joseph Dugan and wife, Miriam, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; children, Virginia Kopp Hall and husband, Robert, of Seneca S.C., Dr. Vincent Joseph Kopp and wife, Katherine, of Chapel Hill, Alice Kopp Loeffler and husband, Joseph, of Cary, and Eileen Kopp Robinson and husband, Michael, of Cornelius; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, May 25, at Sacred Heart Church in Pinehurst. Interment followed the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines, beside her late husband, Vince.

Rickey Buchanan Jr.

CHARLOTTE – Rickey “ Pepper” Buchanan Jr., 36, of Charlotte, died May 18, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center.

Born Feb. 25, 1976, in Charlotte, he was a son of Cayren Strange Lloyd and the late Rickey Lee Buchanan Sr.

He was a mechanic at C.A.R.S. in Huntersville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rickey Sr.; and son, William Lewis Buchanan.

Survivors include his parents, Cecil and Cayren Lloyd, of Charlotte; daughter, Emily Renee Buchanan; son, Jacob Lee Buchanan; brothers, Joseph Lloyd, Steven Nettles and Cecil Lloyd Jr.; sisters, Susan Bethea, Anna Lloyd, Tammy Moody and Cecilia Lloyd; and former wife, Ashley McCarthy.

Services were held May 23 at West Mecklenburg Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Louise Hines Knowles

HUNTERSVILLE – Louise Hines Knowles, 89, of Strasburg, Va., died May 21, 2012, in Huntersville.

She was born April 14, 1923.

Survivors include her children, Pixie Knowles, of Cornelius, Kearn and Nancy Knowles, of Fredericksburg, Va., Geoffrey and Kathy Knowles, of Wardensville, W. Va., Matthew and Josie Knowles, of Marietta, Ga., and Terry Knowles, of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held June 15 in Culpepper, Va.

Jane Scruggs Camp

HUNTERSVILLE – Jane Scruggs Camp, 81, of Huntersville, died May 23, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Born Oct. 8, 1930, in Mooresboro, she was a daughter of the late John Howard Scruggs and Gracie Mae Webb Scruggs.

She became a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntersville in 1952.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Frank Camp; daughter, Becky Helms and husband, Nolan, of Charlotte; and grandchildren, Kristin, Candy and Jonathan Thompson.

Services were held Friday, May 25, at the First Baptist Church in Huntersville, with Dr. Doug Danner and the Rev. S.M. Dorton officiating. A burial followed at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Charlotte.

Frederick Scully

DAVIDSON – Frederick Michael “Fred” Scully, 29, of Davidson, died May 19, 2012, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.

Born June 21, 1982, in Princeton, N.J., he was a son to Douglas and Patricia Scully.

He graduated with honors from Wake Forest University in 2005, after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Mills Scully; daughter, Carrington; sister, Jennifer Merkley; mother, Patricia Scully; and father, Douglas Scully.

Services were held Friday, May 25, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lori Raible officiating. Interment followed at Mimosa Cemetery in Davidson.

Parks Bowen

CORNELIUS – Parks Bowen, 95, of Cornelius, died May 24, 2012.

Born Nov. 16, 1916, he was a son of the late Ella Zarrad and William Bowen.

He and his wife were owners and operators of Bowens Beauty Nook in Charlotte for 25 years. He was a World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Geneva; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Bowen.

Survivors include his son, Don Bowen and wife, Debbie; daughter, Ginger Childress and husband, Jimmy; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday, May 27, at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating.
